About Us
A brief history of N.W.O.D.F.

O.D.F.'s 4th Battalion (N.W.O.D.F.) was activated in July, 2007.

In November 2007 we had our first independent training session. Prior to that, we had
trained with either 1st or 3rd Battalion.  We will continue training with other ODF battalions,
as well as units of the Ohio Unorganized Milita, whenever possible.

Leave your politics at the door...

Seriously. We don't want to hear it. We're not a political study group (or ANY kind of political
group). Doesn't matter if you're a dyed-in-the-wool neocon who thinks that George Bush
can do no wrong, or you're a staunch conservative who thinks that he's Satan's right hand
man. None of that matters. It's completely irrelevant to the topic at hand, which is training
and preparedness. If you want to talk politics, check out the
Links page, there are links
there to message boards where you can talk about that kind of thing.

This goes
DOUBLE for conspiracy theories. What you think about the collapse of the WTC is
completely irrelevant, and there is nothing you, we, or anyone else can do about it. There
are, however, other matters at hand that
are relevant, and you are able to effect (such as
your level of training). Concentrate on these things.

Don't think that this means that people that have strong political opinions, or that believe in
alternate theories to things, are unwelcome. That's simply not the case. Just don't let it
control your life. When we're training, we want to
train, not have a discussion about who's
running for what office, or any of the various conspiracy theories out there. Save all that stuff
for non-training time.
What we do...

Members train in a large variety of skills. The more you know, the better your chances of
surviving any type of adverse conditions, from a severe snowstorm complete with loss of
utilities, to a foreign invasion or other hostile takeover of the United States.

These skills include, among others:

  • Small unit tactics
  • Wilderness survival
  • Marksmanship
  • Hand to hand combat

More important than the skills is the networking that members do. By meeting with like-
minded individuals from your area and working together, you increase you and your family's
chances of surviving in the event of Very Bad Things. You also reduce your dependency on
others, be they your neighbors (who have their own problems), your church (likewise), or
the government (who needs the strings attached to their 'help'?).
"But I want to stay low-key. 'Off the radar', so to speak. I don't want to be
on any lists," you say.

It's almost guaranteed that you're on some kind of list.

Have you ever:

  • Bought a firearm from a dealer (filled out a 4473)?
  • Bought ammunition off the Internet?
  • Bought ANYTHING from a gun store using a credit card?
  • Bought any survival or preparedness-type items off the Internet, or with a credit card?
  • Gone to a militia website (before this one), or visited a website about emergency
    preparedness?
  • Visited a news website that wasn't one of the Big Media names?
  • Visited any websites that suggest that the September 11th attack was an inside job,
or there was any kind of cover-up, or that we weren't being told everything?
  • Written something critical of the government, specific persons or agencies within
the government, the United Nations, globalism, free trade, the War on Terror, the
immigration problem, or any government policy or program, and your writing was on
a blog or otherwise accessible on the 'Net (such as a message board)?
  • Gone to any kind of protest, or added your name to a petition protesting some action
    that the government was taking?

If you answered "YES" to
any of those questions, chances are you're already on some kind
of list (and this is just a very small list of possibilities). Whether it's gun owners,
troublemakers, or what have you, you're there. Heck, just looking at this website means
you're probably getting added to some kind of list even as you read this.

Congratulations! Welcome to the party.

There's no sense in trying to hide. You can't. Not in the age we're living in. Not without
moving to a cave somewhere far from any settlements, going without any of the
conveniences of the modern age (electricity, running water). Even that probably wouldn't
work, since you've already been part of society in some way. You went to school, or got a
driver's license, or had a job, right?

Since you can't hide, by NOT getting together with like-minded people, you are really only
hurting yourself and, if you have one, your family. One person can't provide security 24/7, nor
provide security for the wife and kids while also making sure there is food on the table.
Even two people aren't going to make it for very long. That would mean 12 hours every day
spent making sure everyone is safe, then spending your off time gathering and preparing
food (since the watch person can't do it), and trying to squeeze in time for hygiene and
sleep.

But if you had 30 other people there with you, each of whom had brought their own
supplies, and half of whom had some kind of combat training......

We are concerned individuals who have decided to cast off the fear and uncertainty that
others have tried to lay upon us. The possibility of being on a list is not going to keep us
from improving ourselves, and working together to make sure we are prepared in the event
of unpleasantness.

So lay aside your fear and doubt. Look the world right in the eye and say "I'm not afraid!"
There's nothing you can do about it, so don't let it hold you back. Seek out others who share
your concerns and start training together and working together,
today!

We're right
here, waiting for you.
